Digit 1919

DALLAS—The current demand for smart-home amenities in multifamily housing is on the rise. Young professionals are increasingly seeking apartments equipped with keyless entry, wireless thermostats and security cameras —all accessible from a handheld device.

Digit 1919, a 102-unit apartment complex, meets these needs. Situated in Dallas' historic Cedars neighborhood just south of downtown, Digit 1919 not only encapsulates the modern techie style of living, but it will help revitalize one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dallas. Developer Buzzworks, founded by Zad Roumaya, selected KWA Construction to build his newest project in the area where he has been focused on revitalizing for the last 18 years.

“Digit 1919 has been a great project for KWA to build, with much more focus on the tech-savvy apartment dweller of today. The developer and KWA have worked together to pay particular attention to detail on the daily touch points of the customer's experience. Urban infill projects can be more challenging and complex, but it's where we learn and innovate while playing a part in bringing these emerging areas forward,” said KWA Construction president Brian Webster.

Designed by Dallas-based Parmadesign, the four-story 86,362-square-foot apartment community is accented with bright colors that complement surrounding art studios and small businesses. Rent for the one- and two- bedroom apartments will start at $1,200 a month.

Digit 1919 contains high-tech amenities—app-controlled thermostat, keyless entry, a wireless security camera with a live feed through a mobile app and high-speed Internet up to 100 mbps—that have made properties more attractive and competitive to potential tenants. In addition, residents will have the ability to direct message property managers, and discover community events and updates through Aldea, a communications engagement app accessible from smartphones.

“Digit 1919's smart home amenities are the solution to today's desire to embed technology, such as smartphone-controlled appliances, into daily lifestyles,” Webster tells GlobeSt.com. “KWA Construction helps bring to life Buzzwork's project that will provide first-rate accommodations for maximum comfort and safety.”

Digit 1919 also caters to those seeking pet-friendly amenities, a make-or-break item for a growing number of renters. It includes a 24/7 luxury dog-grooming station and a remote pet camera.

Located at 1919 South Akard, the apartment complex is across the street from the popular coffee shop Full City Rooster. Residents can also enjoy access to the Dallas' bike trail system, the Cedars' DART station and a short walk to local galleries, restaurants and shopping centers in the nearby Cedars district and downtown.
