Robert Kaufman

KINGS POINT, NY—Developer and leasing expert Robert Kaufman, president of the William Kaufman Organization and Sage Realty Corp., has passed away at his home here, in the Great Neck section of Long Island. He was 89 years old.

During his career, Kaufman was best known for his leasing acumen, overseeing the leasing of the William Kaufman Organization's portfolio from the development of 711 Third Ave. in the early 1950s through the 2.5 million square feet repositioning of the majority of the portfolio over the past five years. He oversaw the acquisition and development of every asset in the company's portfolio over the past 65 years.

Born in New York City and raised here, Kaufman served in the Navy and graduated from New York University, before joining his late father, William Kaufman, and his older brother, the late Melvyn Kaufman, at Sage Realty, the leasing and management division of the company that William Kaufman founded in 1938.
