Michael Robinson Robinson: “I am impressed with the company's unmatched platform and steadfast commitment to client service.”

NEW YORK CITY—In an apparent effort to expand its valuation and advisory practice, veteran commercial real estate appraiser Michael Robinson has joined Avison Young. Following 20 years with KTR Real Estate Advisors here—and another five years with other firms—he joins the company as a principal.

Robinson began his career at Laventhol & Horwath and was later a part of the Chase Manhattan Bank real estate investment banking team before moving to KTR. He has appraisal and valuation experience involving a wide range of real estate, including office, retail, hotel, industrial, health care, multifamily and mixed-use properties.

He is considered an expert in analyzing demographic trends, the viability of a particular property and its market value. At Avison, Robinson will offer appraisal and valuation consulting services for current company assignments and generate new opportunities on a wide range of property types.

“Michael is a top-level appraiser with many years of experience and is a highly respected and recognized expert in the New York marketplace,” comments Mitti Liebersohn, principal and president of the firm's New York City office. “We are excited to bring his distinctive set of skills to Avison Young to enhance our already strong property appraisal service-line offering. Michael will play a leading role in expanding our appraisal services in the New York City area and nationally, ensuring that clients have the most current valuation data at their fingertips. His diverse experience will also enable us to better service clients in all asset classes and facilitate more transactions involving multi-property portfolios.”

Adds Avison Young principal and tri-state president Arthur Mirante, “As we continue the expansion of our valuation and advisory team and take on even more high-profile assignments, Michael, a native New Yorker who has first-hand knowledge on the history of many assets, will enhance our ability to provide clients with the critical appraisal and high-level insight needed when buying and selling properties.”

He continues, “Michael's client-centric focus and collaborative approach to all assignments and transactions make him an ideal fit for our company as we deliver a broad range of valuation and consulting services to clients dealing with all property types – small-to-large as well as multi-national. He will also help us attract top appraisal talent who fit seamlessly into our corporate culture, which emphasizes teamwork at all times.”

Robinson holds a Master of Fine Arts from the American Film Institute and has simultaneously enjoyed a second career as a film producer. Select work includes Robert DeNiro's A Bronx Tale, Rob Reiner's North and Tony Scott's The Fan. He has also produced independent films that have cast Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams and David Morse, and has written and directed both documentaries and children's films.

“I am delighted to join Avison Young's valuation and advisory group and have long been impressed with the company's unmatched platform and steadfast commitment to client service,” says Robinson. “In addition to access to the highest caliber market data, the firm also offers something that is very important to me – a principal-led environment that fosters collaboration. I am looking forward to expanding the client roster of the valuation and advisory team and, at the same time, taking my career to the next level.”
