The event, which included more than 40 breakout sessions and six general sessions, drew 700 attendees.

LAS VEGAS— Designed for all industry professionals who sponsor, analyze, market, distribute or sell alternative investments, we are gearing up for this year's ADISA Annual Conference and Trade Show coming up September 26-28 at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. John Harrison, executive director and CEO of ADISA, tells GlobeSt.com that this is the industry's largest event and “we're on pace to have even more broker-dealers, registered investment advisors and financial advisors than last year's record-breaking year.”

Several educational sessions will be available, many of which qualify for Continuing Education credit. In one session, sponsor executives will be asked about the challenges facing the broker-dealer community such as the increased compliance costs that will result from the fiduciary standard created by the DOL, for example. In another panel, it's the sponsor's turn to challenge a panel of broker-dealers. Topics and questions will include things like: Can commission loads be reduced to improve product economies? Why does it take so long to get offerings through the due diligence queue and onto the broker-dealer platform?

The first two sessions are designed to help improve the understanding between sponsors and their distribution network, but will they cause fireworks instead?

Other featured speakers at the event include legendary baseball hall of fame member Joe Torre–chief baseball officer for Major League Baseball and former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees as well as women's leadership speaker, Linda Gray, an award winning actress, an accomplished director, a former United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and one of the world's most recognized and admired stars.

In addition, there will be a session with the Capitol Steps, which began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed. It will tackle both sides of the political spectrum and all things equally foolish.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with nearly 1,000 leading industry professionals and visit with nearly 80 event exhibitors.

“We pour great effort into our program, creating educational curriculum that is in-depth and insightful—a lot more formats and settings than just average panels,” Harrison explains. “We have debates, Q & A interviews and classroom-style presentations…we have an incredible lineup of speakers and we are excited.”
