SEATTLE—Cities with some of the largest carbon footprints are also hot spots for energy-efficient home technology, according to a new Zillow analysis. California cities top the list for energy-efficient homes—but not for low carbon footprints. Of the 100 largest cities in the country, San Jose, CA, has the greatest percentage of home listing descriptions featuring energy-efficient termssuch as “solar panel” and “wind power”but the fifth largest carbon footprint. Buffalo, N.Y. has the smallest carbon footprint but only 3% of home listings feature energy-efficient terms. The analysis highlights how energy-efficient home technology—popular with millennials and West Coast homeowners—is catching on as a trend in some of the places that need it most.

SEATTLE—Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, recently revealed that Jonathan Thomas has been promoted to regional manager in the firm's Seattle office. In this position, he will help lead the overall growth and management of the office, in addition to joining the firm's Pacific Northwest regional leadership team for the Pleasanton, CA, San Francisco and Seattle offices. He joined Ware Malcomb in 2010 in the firm's Denver office, moved to the Irvine headquarters in 2011 as a project designer, and in 2015 was promoted to studio manager to lead Ware Malcomb's new commercial architecture team in Seattle. SANTA CLARA, CA—The National Association of REALTORS awarded the GOLD Global Achievement Program Award to the Global Investment Council of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS at its national meetings in Orlando, FL. The award, which was won by SCCAOR's Global Investment Council during its first year of existence, is designed to recognize and reward the most active associations in global business.

PORTLAND—CBRE Global Investors has acquired the Park Square Campus, a 295,767-square-foot, class A two-building urban office campus located in the heart of Downtown Portland on behalf of a European separate account client. The property is 97.5% leased to a quality roster of investment-grade tenants with a weighted average lease term of 8.7 years. Park Square's strategic location at 100 SW Market St., adjacent to Pettygrove City Park, provides convenient access to multiple transportation options, a strong amenity base, and an educated labor pool. The recently renovated property features amenities such as an 8,000-square-foot Great Room connecting the two buildings, a patio, onsite restaurant, updated lobby and secure bicycle parking with lockers, as well as 24-hour security and card key access.

SEATTLE—Trammell Crow Co. and joint venture partner, MetLife, recently revealed that Amazon has signed a long-term, full-building lease at Midtown21, downtown Seattle's newest class AA, 21-story office tower. The 365,000-square-foot building will be complete in December 2016 and occupants will move in later in 2017.

SEATTLE—Global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will recently completed NorthEdge, a 208,000-square-foot hi-tech office space in Wallingford designed by the firm's Seattle office. “The inspiration for NorthEdge came from the adjacent Gasworks Park,” says Kay Kornovich, principal and managing director of the Seattle office of Perkins+Will. “As former home to the city's municipal gas works, the park today contains much of its original 1900s machinery. The rustic and modern materials selected for NorthEdge harmonizes with materials found at the park to celebrate the area's industrial past.”
