CHICAGO—Marcus & Millichap has just named Steven Weinstock national director of the firm's national land group. He currently serves as regional manager of the firm's Chicago Oak Brook office, a position he will maintain in addition to his new appointment. “As national director of the firm's national land group, Steven will play an important role in further expanding the firm's foot print in this segment,” says Alan L. Pontius, senior vice president and national director overseeing all of Marcus & Millichap's specialty divisions. Weinstock is a graduate of the University of Michigan, earned a law degree from Wayne State University Law School.
CHICAGO—CA Ventures, a Chicago-based real estate investment holding company, has promoted three senior executives. JJ Smith has been named president of CA Student Living, the firm's student housing investment and development division. In addition, Ben Burke has been promoted to president of CA Senior Living, the company's senior housing entity, while Matt Booma has been named executive vice president of the same division. Smith, 36, has been with CA Ventures since 2007, when he began as a project manager on 309 Green in Champaign, IL, CA's first ground-up student housing development. Burke, 33, joined CA Ventures in 2015 just as the firm was increasing its focus on senior housing. Also rising through the ranks at CA Senior Living is Booma, 36, who came to CA Ventures in 2013 as a member of the student housing and multifamily development teams. Booma brings more than a decade of architecture experience to the firm through prior positions at Lucien Lagrange Architects and Perkins+Will.
ITASCA, IL—ML Realty Partners has just promoted Sonya Majus to director from transaction coordinator. In her new role she will oversee and negotiate loan transactions as well as the purchase and sale transaction process as a member of the finance and accounting team. “Her attention to detail and work ethic over the past six years make her a natural fit for the current promotion,” says Ryan Hesch, senior vice president of ML Realty Partners. The company focuses on both the acquisition and development of industrial real estate in the central US.
DES PLAINES, IL—Angela Aeschliman has just joined the Missner Group as senior vice president of property and asset management. She will replace June McCrory who is retiring from after more than 25 years in property management. “First, I would like to thank June for her service and commitment to the Missner Group and our family for the past several years,” says Barry Missner, chief executive officer. “She will be greatly missed.” Aeschliman will oversee the financial and operational needs of the firm's extensive commercial real estate portfolio. She will manage in-house and third party contracts, lead the property management team staff, and foster strong tenant, owner and investor relationships. Prior to joining Missner, Aeschliman was the chief operating officer for Watermark Property Management, a sister company of Baum Realty Group, in Chicago.

FARGO, ND—Ronn Thomas and Tim Storey of Cushman & Wakefield NorthMarq's hospitality team has just represented BD Hotel Ventures in the sale of the 151-room Radisson Hotel in Fargo, ND. The sale closed Friday, December 2. The 18-story Radisson, located at 201 Fifth St. N., is the second-tallest building in the state, behind only the state capital building in Bismarck. It is close to the Fargo Theatre, Plains Art Museum and the Fargo Civic Center. In addition, North Dakota State University and the Fargodome are within a short drive of the Radisson. This “was an attractive property for potential investors because it's one of the area's premier hotels,” says Thomas. “The building was recently renovated, and it's connected to the downtown Fargo skyway system.”

CHICAGO—Mortenson Construction is ready to create a state-of-the art performing arts center on the Wheaton College campus. In the $18 million first phase of the project, the company will rebuild the three stories and basement of a gutted 50,000 square foot former science building into the new home for the college's music school. The Armerding Center for Music and the Arts, set to open in the fall of 2017, will include recording studios and a two-story,110-seat recital hall. The second phase calls for demolishing an adjacent building and constructing a Concert Hall. “Mortenson is a premier builder of acoustically sensitive spaces as well as a leader in higher education construction, and we are benefiting from the team's clear expertise,” says Randy Norbeck, Wheaton College's director of facility services and construction.
ELMHURST, IL—Morgan / Harbour has been selected to construct a new 14,000 square foot core and shell, mixed-use medical office building at 751-755 N. York Rd. in Elmhurst, IL, on behalf of the developer, MedProperties Group. The structural steel and masonry building will sit on a one-acre site and be designated as an Edward-Elmhurst Health location. The Woodbridge, IL-based company plans to complete the structure in winter 2017. Greg Lennartz of Morgan/Harbour will lead the construction team as project manager and Jim Ritchey will act as project superintendent. Ware Malcomb is providing the architectural services.
