In all, 214 entries from 46 countries competed for MIPIM Awards, and Forrester commented that the scoring was very close as he and 10 other jurors weighed their selections. The final selections were based on both the jury's deliberations this past January and voting conducted among MIPIM attendees.

CANNES, FRANCE—Winnowing 200-plus entries down to 44 finalists and, ultimately, 11 winners proved an especially tall order this year, said Cushman & Wakefield's John Forrester in a video introducing the 27th annual MIPIM Awards. “The quality is rising every year,” said Forrester, EMEA CEO for Cushman & Wakefield and chair of the jury for this year's awards. The results were announced at a gala ceremony this past Thursday in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

Projects across Europe represented eight of the 11 property-type winners—while a ninth one, the Beyazit State Library in Istanbul, came away with the Special Jury Award. Belgium was home to three of the winning projects; all three included the firm of Jaspers-Eyers Architects as part of their teams.

That nation's winners included two mixed-use redevelopment projects: the Chambon in Brussels, chosen as Best Refurbished Building; and this year's Best Urban Regeneration Project, be-Mine in Beringen. Belgium's other win was in the Best Industrial & Logistics Development category, with the Nike European Logistics Center in Ham.

The other winners were as follows: Best Healthcare Development, the GAPS psychiatric hospital in Slagelse, Denmark; Best Hotel & Tourism Resort, Maison Albar Hotel Paris Céline, Paris; Best Innovative Green Building, the Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow), Rio de Janeiro;
