WASHINGTON, DCPeggy Van Eepoel, an associate principal in Thornton Tomasetti's Weidlinger Protective Design practice in the Washington, DC area has been named an SEI Fellow by the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. During her more than 15-year career, Van Eepoel has been involved in the design and structural hardening of over 100 structures, including embassies, courthouses, military housing and administrative buildings, government headquarters, laboratories, hospitals, clinics and museums.

NORFOLK, VA–Sarasota, Fla.-based HC Government Realty Trust has closed its previously-announced acquisition of a three-story, 53,917-square foot Social Security Administration building located at 5850 Lake Herbert Dr., for $14.5 million. This is the eleventh single-tenant US General Services Administration-leased commercial property in its real estate portfolio.

“Over the coming months, we intend to add additional properties to our holdings, as we are currently in discussions to acquire a number of GSA properties that meet our stringent investment criteria,” CEO Edwin M. Stanton, said in a prepared statement.

HCGRT has identified more than 1,300 potential acquisition targets.

ALEXANDRIA, VAJLL is advising the City of Alexandria on the disposition of two redevelopment opportunities at 912-920 King Street and 116 South Henry Street. Both properties are city-owned parking lots located along the greater King Street Corridor in Old Town.

The King Street property is 9,942 square feet and fronts King Street with access to the rear alleyway known as Downham Way.

The Henry Street property is 15,332 square feet and site spans the width of the city block and fronts both South Henry Street and South Patrick Street.

The City of Alexandria is looking for developers with expertise in public-private partnerships, federal tax credit funding mechanisms, multifamily construction or commercial development involving both office and retail and historic district redevelopment.

“This is a unique opportunity for access to the heart of Old Town Alexandria,” City Manager Mark Jinks said in a prepared statement.

WASHINGTON, DC–Workout studio [solidcore] will be opening a location at Grosvenor Americas' F1RST mixed-use residential community in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. The company signed a lease for a more than 2,100 square feet, which it plans to open later this year. This new location will be the studio's sixth in the District, and its first in Southeast.
