BY THE NUMBERS

The Atlanta self-storage market will continue to benefit from robust residential construction. Multifamily developers are on pace to deliver more than 12,000 units in 2017, the largest supply addition since 2003. Furthermore, roughly 25,500 single-family homes are slated for delivery, helping accommodate a rate of household formation of 2.1%, a 10-year high.

NEWS & NOTABLES

ATLANTA—Faithful+Gould, an Americas project and program management consultancy, hired 30-year industry veteran Guy Bullock as a senior project manager. Bullock will work to drive the firm's Corporate Real Estate Sector activities in the Atlanta area. Bullock's background is in the construction and commercial real estate industries, specializing in owner's representation, construction management, project management, program management, design-build and cross functional integration. He will be working in both business development and technical capacities, providing valuable input on a wide range of projects and initiatives. He has managed both new construction and renovations of office buildings, aviation facilities, wireless telecom, data centers and mixed-use developments. This has included serving as owner's representative on multi-million-dollar aviation and corporate real estate projects.

DEALTRACKER

ATLANTA—EastGroup purchased Broadmoor Commerce Park in Atlanta for $6.3 million. The 100% leased, 84,000 square foot multi-tenant business distribution building resides on 17 acres of land, and the Company intends to develop an additional 107,000 square foot distribution building on the site.

CHARLOTTE—CBRE won the exclusive leasing assignment of INQ@2401, a 165,000-square-foot office building close to Interstate 485 and just off Interstate 74 at 2401 Sardis Road North in Charlotte. The building, owned by a partnership between DRA Advisors and Mainstreet Capital Partners, recently signed Verizon Wireless, which will occupy 90,000 square feet. The office building still offers 72,250 square feet of leasable space. Joe Franco, CBRE senior vice president, and Stephanie Spivey, CBRE associate, both out of the Charlotte office, will lead the leasing efforts. Mainstreet Capital Partners manages the building.

ATLANTA—In a joint-venture with Yates Group and JAC Real Estate Investments, Ackerman & Co. just scored a major win in Atlanta's industrial market. The companies pre-leased Braselton Logistics Center, a 1,000,821-square-foot bulk distribution facility, to Uline Inc. Uline signed a 10-year lease with Ackerman. The company will combine the operations of two nearby distribution facilities in Gwinnett County into the industrial facility, which will serve as its Southeast US logistics hub.

COLLEGE PARK, GA—Hunter Hotel Advisors represented the owner in the sale of the Best Western Plus Hotel & Suites Airport South, College Park. A regional hotel owner purchased the five-story, 87-room hotel for its strong cash flow and prime location adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world's busiest airport. The new owner plans to maintain the flag on the 2001 built hotel. Lee Hunter and Mayank Patel worked together on the hotel transaction.

FRANKLIN, TN—Crescent Communities unveiled plans for Bigby, 350,000 square feet of commercial office and retail space, 330 luxury apartments, 15 townhomes and a 200-room hotel. “For the last two years, we've listened closely to what the City of Franklin wants for its future through direct dialog with residents, businesses and elected officials that further culminated in the creation and adoption of the Envision Franklin long-range vision plan,” says Brian Leary, president of Crescent Communities' Commercial/Mixed-Use (CMU) business. “Concurrently, we've been hearing from the market that walkable, mixed-use and amenity-laden destinations are what they need and where they are going to best retain and recruit the talent they need to succeed.”
