Early this week in the Southeast saw some musical chairs and significant awards in Atlanta. Louisiana and Mississippi posted some strong activity on the commercial real estate front.

ATLANTA—Veteran lodging and commercial real estate advisory specialist Keith Worsham joined the hotel investment sales group for Newmark Knight Frank's national hospitality advisory practice, NKF Hotels. Worsham brings 25 years of diverse hotel, investment sales, capital markets, management, consulting and franchise experience, as well as hospitality industry relationships with lodging brand executives, owners, investors, developers, franchisees and brokers. His work with flagship brands includes Hilton, Marriott, InterContinental Hotel Group, Wyndham, and Accor Hotels. Before joining NKF, Worsham served as a senior director at Ten-X. His efforts helped grow the Private Client Group to over $2.2 billion in hotel commercial real estate transactions. Prior to Ten-X, Worsham was director of franchise sales and development for Accor Hotel's Red Roof Inn and Cendant Corporation, respectively. He was recognized as a top producer at both companies after signing more than 170 franchise agreements and generating over $120 million in annual revenue combined. In 2003, Worsham founded Wesley Hotel Group LLC with Wayne McAteer, which developed, owned and operated hotels for major institutional and private clients.

ATLANTA—171 17th Street has received LEED Platinum status with the help of several Cushman & Wakefield employees, including: Lezly Tyler, general manager; Sunday Thompson, assistant property manager; Darryl Carter, chief engineer; Montario Baugh, lead engineer; and Alonzo Swinger, maintenance tech. The building received a score of 18 points, and is one of only seven buildings in the state to achieve Platinum status. More commonly known as the Wells Fargo Tower, 171 17th Street, located at Atlantic Station, includes 533,259 square feet of class A office space. The 22-story tower was built in 2004, and was awarded an Energy Star label in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 for its operating efficiency. This building was awarded the BOMA 360 designation in Q1 2016.

SHREVEPORT, LA—A 2,079-unit portfolio in Lafayette, Shreveport and Slidell has traded hands Cushman & Wakefield's Southeast Multifamily Advisory Group arranged the nearly $250 million sale. Mike Kemether of Cushman & Wakefield and Larry G. Schedler of Larry G. Schedler & Associates represented the seller, AVR Realty, in the transaction. El-Ad National Properties acquired the multifamily portfolio. “This portfolio sale represents a substantial statewide multifamily investment and transaction,” Schedler tells GlobeSt.com. “The high level of local and international investor interest was driven by the opportunity to purchase a critical mass of best-in-class assets across the state of Louisiana.”

ATLANTA—LaSalle Investment Management's US value-add fund LaSalle Income & Growth Fund VII acquired Restoration Hardware's Gallery at the Estate in Buckhead, a six-story, 63,831-square-foot retail property located on Peachtree Road Northwest, between Pharr Road and Paces Ferry Road. The property is located in the affluent Buckhead district of Atlanta, and benefits from high visibility, with nearly 60,000 vehicles per day on Peachtree Road, and strong market demographics, with an average household income of $121,000. The property's design is inspired by classic Southern estates, featuring dramatic double staircases, a multi-story central hall, and barrel-vaulted passageways.

EAST DUBLIN, GA—On behalf of Aladdin Manufacturing Corporation, Binswanger brokered the sale of 867,548 square foot single-story industrial building on approximately 1260 acres. The property is located at 443 Nathaniel Drive in East Dublin. Al-Rahim, a leading home textile manufacturer producing towels, bedding and kitchen linens purchased the property. The transaction for the seller was handled by David Barber, senior vice president in Binswanger's Atlanta, Georgia office.

JACKSON, MS—The Molpus Woodlands Group, a timberland investment management organization headquartered in Jackson, announced an offering for sale approximately 45,850 acres located in four states: approximately 15,300 acres in North Carolina, 4,850 acres in Georgia, 12,300 acres in Alabama, and 13,400 acres in Mississippi. This investment-grade timberland and real estate offering can be purchased in its entirety or in individual packages. While these timberlands have been traditionally managed as commercial forests, their proximity to major metropolitan areas creates possible sources of revenue from real estate, development, recreation, and conservation partnerships.
