KANSAS CITY—Hunt Midwest has added new managers to its team. Wes Detwiler joined Hunt Midwest, which operates SubTropolis, the largest underground storage facility in the US, as manager of new business development. He will analyze new opportunities, complete financial underwriting, and perform due diligence on the company's real estate projects. A former real estate underwriting consultant with Wells Fargo in New York City, Detwiler also has served as senior financial analyst and fund manager for Block Real Estate Services. Jon Moody has joined the Hunt Midwest team as manager of security and safety. He formerly served as chief of security at Midwestern Baptist Seminary where he developed and implemented the school's new security department.

CHICAGO—To focus on improving patient safety and clinical outcomes, as well as reducing overall risk in hospital environments, George Mills will leave his current role as director of the department of engineering at the Joint Commission and take a new position as director of healthcare technical operations at JLL. “In his new role, George's direct work with healthcare organizations on regulatory and compliance matters through JLL solutions and technology will take our platform to the next level for our clients,” says Peter Bulgarelli, executive managing director of JLL's Healthcare group. “It will also have a direct impact on improved patient care and safety.” Mills will join JLL in October. “By joining JLL, I will be able to operationalize my teachings and demonstrate to healthcare organizations how to transform from a reactive approach to a proactive solution that benefits patients,” says Mills.

CHICAGO—Marcus & Millichap has decided to expand its infrastructure and staffing in Chicagoland to increase its market share in the region. The company will occupy about 6,000 square feet of additional space in its downtown building, located at 333 W. Wacker Dr. Concurrently, the firm will bring in additional personnel at its Oak Brook office, located at One Mid-America Plaza, Oakbrook Terrace, to capture additional suburban market share. “Chicagoland is a region where our institutional and major private client business is rapidly evolving,” says Richard Matricaria, senior vice president and division manager. The company's Chicago Downtown office allows space for more than 80 sales professionals, originators, and staff. Previously, the firm's downtown office had 47 agents and staff members.

DEALTRACKER

ELKHART, IN—Berkadia recently helped complete the sale of La Casa Estates, a 97-unit multifamily complex located in Elkhart, IN. Chris Bruzas and Alex Blagojevich of Berkadia's Chicago team exclusively listed the property and completed the sale on August 30. Bruzas and Blagojevich represented the seller, The Romney Group out of Holladay, UT. The buyer was a private family office based out of IL. Built in 1970, the property consists of 10, three-story buildings with brick exteriors and pitched roofs with composition shingles. In addition to the 97 apartment units, this property also contains three commercial spaces adjacent to the property's office.

CHICAGO—The Marketing Store has just agreed to expand to 35,955 square feet at 55 W. Monroe. Savills Studley represented the agency in the transaction, which will increase its footprint by 15%. The agency relocated to the Loop tower from multiple suburban locations in 2013, and will now occupy the majority of the 13th and 15th floors. “Our state-of-the-art and collaborative space at 55 West Monroe has supported recruiting and retaining top talent, innovations in our service lines and seamless interaction with clients that have also relocated downtown,” says Marketing Store chief financial officer Chuck McDonough. The agency has offices in 12 countries and is privately held as part of HAVI. John Hancock Life Insurance Co. owns 55 West Monroe and was represented by Andrea Saewitz of Cushman & Wakefield. The Marketing Store was represented by Robert Sevim and Joe Learner of Savills Studley.
