NEW YORK CITY—The Real Estate Board of New York will present top honors to seven leaders at their 122nd Annual Banquet on January 18, 2018 at the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan.
Rob Speyer, the president and CEO of Tishman Speyer, who has served as the REBNY chairman since 2013, will receive The Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award. In concluding his five-year term, Speyer will be recognized for being an industry member who made significant contributions to New York's civic welfare and the real estate community.
Speyer is chairman of the advisory board of the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City. He was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2006 and reappointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2014. He serves on the board of trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and St. Patrick's Cathedral, where he was the co-chairman of the construction committee overseeing the monumental building's restoration and renovation.
At Tishman Speyer, he guided the company's growth into a leading global real estate investment management firm with assets under management in excess of $45 billion.
“Rob Speyer's record of service and civic leadership as REBNY chairman will be a tough act to follow,” says incoming REBNY chair, William Rudin. “His vision and dedication to the industry has made REBNY a stronger and better organization than ever before.”
US Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will be honored with the John E. Zuccotti Public Service Award. This award is presented to a New Yorker for exceptional accomplishments and public interest service. In honoring Schumer's four terms in the Senate, REBNY notes his bipartisan efforts in protecting the middle class and in finding common ground with national issues.
REBNY commends the senator's protection of Social Security and Medicare, his encouraging job-creating infrastructure projects, and his work in retaining and creating New York jobs. The organization praises Schumer's 2001 “Group of 35” report, a measure to streamline governmental processes to expedite construction in New York.
In addition to Speyer and Schumer, the organization will recognize five award winners at what REBNY refers to as “the largest real estate networking event in the city.”
The following industry professionals will also be presented awards: Elizabeth Stribling, the chair of Stribling & Associates and President of Stribling Marketing associates; Richard LeFrak, the CEO and chairman of LeFrak; Joanne Podell, the first broker at Cushman & Wakefield's retail services division to rise to the position of executive vice chair; Gene Boniberger, senior vice president and director of building operations at Rudin Management Company; and Ron Lo Russo, president of Cushman & Wakefield's agency consulting group.
Tickets are available on the REBNY website. For additional information, email [email protected] or phone (212) 616-5285.
