COSTA MESA, CA—I was lucky enough to attend the Crittenden National Real Estate Conference in Costa Mesa, CA on Wednesday, networking with some of my finance favorites such as Michael Singh, EVP of A10 Capital and William Shoppoff, president and CEO of Shopoff Realty Investments LP, among others. While some panelists are bullish about the market, noting that the industry is structurally sound, but not knowing what tomorrow holds, such as rent control in California, for example, is always a risk. "We have typically been the fix and flip route," said Shopoff. "We don't get very attached to things." Now, he says, he is starting to build some things and keep them for long-term cash flow. "I turned 60 last year and your perspective gets different and I am no longer at a place where you can get your butt kicked and recover," he said. Take a look at the photo slideshow for all the details from the event.
