With the Treetop Development purchase, brokerage firm CBRE reports it has negotiated a more than 100,000-square-foot lease at the property.

The Wells-Wentworth Connector is part of the first phase of development at The 78, which is bordered by Roosevelt Road, Clark Street, 15th Street and the Chicago River. The 78 could at full build-out include a total of 13 million square feet of mixed-use space.

The contemporary, glass condominium tower, designed by celebrated architect Carlos Zapata and Robert Swedroe, features 154 flow-through, waterfront condo residences with direct ocean and bay views.

WebFX received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for the project. The proposal includes a $250,000 Pennsylvania First grant and $126,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon creation of the new jobs.

The opening of the Conn's HomePlus Lakeland distribution center in August 2020 will create approximately 50 new full-time jobs, with an estimated 720 additional statewide jobs generated as the retail showrooms open.
