In January 2013, Mayor Michael B. Hancock announced the creation of the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative (NDCC) and the appointment of Kelly Leid to oversee this key transformational initiative. The NDCC is a strategic alignment of six major projects that will provide unprecedented opportunities to rebuild a connected community and energize a 21st century gateway into Denver between I-25 and Colorado Blvd. At 3,000 acres, the effort represents one of the nation's largest urban redevelopment efforts to reconnect three historic neighborhoods, reclaim over a mile of the South Platte River, transform the National Western Complex and Denver Coliseum into a year round destination to solve some of the world's most pressing food production and safety issues and help activate the Corridor of Opportunity.
