HOUSTON-Amtech Elevator has inked a multi-million-dollar pact to service the entire 10-building Greenway Plaza. The company had all but 500,000 sf of the near 4.3-million complex.

HOUSTON-The Houston Ballet has secured 2.2 acres to build a specially designed warehouse for equipment and set designs. The property, close to the group's performance hall, will be up and running in the summer.

HOUSTON-The Woodlands is edging away from its image as strictly a residential community, with more and more commercial enterprises making their way to the 27,000-acre master-planned development. Office and retail development has been particularly brisk in the past year.

HOUSTON-An aggressive fund-raising campaign is financing $347 million in construction projects for Rice University. The costliest project is a $100-million replacement for Fondren Library.

SATSOP, WA-The station, along with a 50-mile pipeline to bring natural gas to the site from the Interstate 5 corridor, will be constructed at a cost of $250-million. It will replace a once-planned pair of nuclear plants envisioned by Energy Northwest for the area.

COUPEVILLE, WA-The trust negotiated the deal with the Engle family. The funds came out of the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, which is funded by lease revenues from those who develop resources on federal land.

BELLEVUE, WA-The vision includes a 6,500-seat sports arena to house minor league teams in basketball, hockey, indoor tennis, arena football and soccer, with an adjacent 2,000-seat theater for the performing arts.

SEATTLE, WA-The "SPU Master Plan Standing Advisory Committee" will make sure SPU complies with the Plan, which calls for the addition of some 400,000 sf of academic and residential construction between now and 2015.
