HOUSTON-The city's high-profile Uptown Galleria submarket is in a slump and the CBD is bustling, according to a new research report. High-tech fallout, relocation to owner-occupied structures and traffic patterns could be the cause.

HOUSTON-Vantage Cos. has kicked off one of the first brand-new business parks in the market. The 28-acre, 365,000-sf development fronts Beltway 8, the bulk of which had been formerly owned by Houston industrialist William K. Bondeson.

HOUSTON-More industrial space is headed toward Houston, with predictions calling for 5.1 million sf. It's the biggest surge since 1999, when 5.8 million sf had delivered. It looks like Houston could remain the nation's leading industrial arena.

HOUSTON-Another vacant Food Lion has been sold. This one's a 42,000-sf building on about five acres that will be used for a satellite campus of Houston Community College Southwest. The college has bought the holding from the Fleishman Trust.

HOUSTON-The Houston operation has been such a business boon for a Los Angeles-based tile company that it's expanded its lease in the Hempstead Highway Distribution Center. Emser Tile has added 15,197 sf to its 31,000 sf as a result.

HOUSTON-Two leases, totaling 178,000 sf, have been cut for Memorial City Plaza that spell office consolidations for two companies. TotalFina's 130,000 sf will combine two locations and Computer Associates' 48,000 sf, three.

HOUSTON-Willowbrook Business Center is adding Compaq Computer to its tenant roster. The corporation has signed for a 26,880-sf spot in a 38,400-sf warehouse owned by Willowbrook Business Center LP.
