DALTON, GA-This city of an estimated 23,000 residents is also agreeing to comply with the federal Clean Water Act to stop discharging pollutants and sewer sludge into surface water and lakes. Dalton is 93 miles northwest of Downtown Atlanta.

SAVANNAH, GA-The underperforming 149-year-old, 68-room hotel is being sold by Paine Weber and Coastal Hotel Group for $160,000 per room. They bought the property in 1998 for $555,424 or $8,168 per room. The owners' five other hotels in California are also up for sale. Savannah is 200 miles southeast of Downtown Atlanta.
ATLANTA-The two-building, 310,500-sf Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory will have a Hot Lab, one of only five in North America that will study viral and rickettsial diseases, AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, bacterial and mycotic diseases and hospital infections.
ATLANTA-In a move to protect streams, DeKalb County officials approved a law that triples the distance of undisturbed land between new construction and a stream.
