While investors are adjusting underwriting to account for a higher cost of capital, they aren't slowing down acquisition activity.

"Crowdfunding has grown up to be a real player in the real estate market," says Bruce Stachenfeld, chairman of RE law firm Duval & Stachenfeld.

"We arrived at the current state of downtown areas through necessary change, and it's going through yet another evolution," says Jamie Henderson, head of commercial real estate at Capital One.

As employees shift to new work models, companies are figuring out the complicated logistics.

While all eyes are on interest rates, Iman Brivanlou, managing director of Income Equities at TCW, says his top concerns are a policy error or runaway inflation.

"Not all of this will happen immediately, explained Stefan Weiss, senior economist at Econometric Advisors, in talking about the transition to the future of work.

Online and brick-and-mortar shopping once seemed to be at odds, but the pandemic has proven synergy between the two shopping experiences.
