ATLANTA-The ripples of the retailers bankruptcy filing Jan. 22 could spread in metro Atlanta real estate circles. JDN Realty Corp. and IRT Property Co. are among firms that are leasing large chunks of space to Kmart.
ATLANTA-The properties are the inherited portion of the bank's merger last year with First Union National Bank. Thirty-seven of the properties are in Florida,; 11 in North Carolina; and five in Georgia.
NEWNAN, GA-The retail center for fast-growing Newnan in Coweta County has been downsized from five department stores to three. The proposed Mall at Newnan Crossing would be the fifth mall added in the Atlanta area since 1999.
ATLANTA-Worldpsan is in the process of developing a new headquarters site near its present one in the Galleria area near I-75 and I-285. The company's lease on the 367,000 sf of space expires Dec. 31, 2004.
NASHVILLE, TN-GE Capital Real Estate sold the 302-unit Heritage A apartments to locally based First Management Services for $11.25 million. The property sold for about $37,000 per unit. First Management has indicated it might raise rents at the property.
CHARLOTTE-The Atlanta-based homebuilder continues its non-traditional marketing efforts, announcing a partnership with Concord Mills. The homebuilder will operate and staff a sales kiosk in the Concord, NC-based mall.
ATLANTA-The San Francisco-based investor paid a subsidiary of locally based John W. Rooker & Associates $32 per sf for a fully-leased, 95,400-sf structure near the intersection of Jonesboro Road and Interstate 285.
RICHMOND, VA-The Natick, MA-based retailer purchased 15.8 acres for $3.6 million or $227,848 per acre ($5.23 per sf) at Hanover Square Shopping Center in Mechanicsville where it plans to build a 108,000 sf store.
NASHVILLE, TN-Perrigo Corp., an Allegan, MI-based pharmaceutical manufacturer sold the 400 Sanford Road property in the Midsouth Logistic Center for $14 million or about $26.98 per sf. Stiles plans to add 250,000 sf and make the asset the largest speculative warehouse property in the Nashville market.
