BOSTON-Joslin Diabetes Center, Inc. signs a 10-year lease for 14,710 sf of office space at 109 Brookline Ave. The three-story office building and five-story office, telecom and laboratory building is owned by HRPT Properties Trust.
MARLBOROUGH, MA-Permanent financing in the amount of $21 million is arranged for the acquisition of the Shops at the Pond, a 103,267-sf shopping center located at the intersection of routes 290 and 495. Kimco Realty Trust purchased the shopping center for $26.5 million this past February.
BOSTON-Locally based Bain Capital, along with the Carlyle Group and Spectrum Equity Investors, agrees to acquire Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp. and Grupo Cinemex from Onex Corp. and its partner, Oaktree Capital Management LLC for approximately $1.5 billion. Loews is the third largest movie theater chain in the industry.
UPTON, MA- Noble Vista, a 150-unit housing project being built under the state's affordable housing law, receives a $5 million loan commitment for its construction from MassHousing, the state's affordable housing bank. The complex will be located on 53 acres on the Northbridge town line. <P>

CAMBRIDGE, MA-InterSystems Corp. expands its corporate headquarters at One Memorial Dr. by more than 20,000 sf. The software company is now leasing 83,000 sf in the 352,000-sf, 17-story building which is owned and managed by Equity Office Properties.
WORCESTER, MA-American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts moves its chapter headquarters to the Remillard Building at 2000 Century Dr. in the Worcester Corporate Center. The 87-acre center, which was acquired by St. Pierre Development, was master planned for 750,000 sf of office, biomedical and manufacturing space.
LEXINGTON, MA-Ashforth Paradigm Capital Advisors, which was launched earlier this year as a partnership between the Ashforth Co. and Paradigm Properties, makes its first investment. The firm acquired two sports club facilities in Lexington and Franklin for $10.3 million.
PEABODY, MA-The Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board denies Simon Property Group's $6.1-million real estate tax claim against the city. The Indianapolis-based company contended the mall was overvalued from 1995 through 2001.
