ATLANTA-In the Southeast and Illinois, the Bureau of Land Management has sold 164 parcels containing oil and gas deposits. The sales generated $729,250 in revenue.

ATLANTA-A handful of land parcels have traded hands in the Southeast for the development of new multifamily properties and the expansion of existing assets. In one of the deals, NorSouth Corp. plans to develop a 50-acre property in Fairburn, GA with 493 units.

ATLANTA-The Oak Brook, IL-based REIT sold the six-building, 184,738-sf University Square Business Center in Huntsville, AL to Alabama-based USBCC for $8.45 million or $45.74 per sf. Banyan realized $3.3 million in net proceeds from the sale, or 21 cents per share.

ATLANTA-A 100,087-sf office building has moved from Technology Park/Atlanta Inc. into the hands of locally based Wells Real Estate Investment Trust. The four-story, seven-month-old suburban property is fully leased to Novartis Corp. through July 2011.

ATLANTA-Green Street Properties LLC plans to bring 1.5 million sf of new mixed-use buildings to the city's inventory. Work is expected to begin in September on the new urbanism community, which was most recently a concrete recycling plant two miles from the center of Downtown Atlanta.

ATLANTA-Archer Western Contractors Ltd. is scheduled to break ground in May on the U.S. Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Building, a new 90,000-sf R&D facility. HOK is the lead architect.

ATLANTA-A Publix-anchored shopping center in Decatur, GA and two Just For Feet stores in August, GA and Covington, LA, have been added to the REIT's portfolio, increasing its Southeast presence by 100,000 sf for a total 7.34 million sf.
