Net absorption actually increased 53% from the fourth quarter of 2002, increasing from 193,645 sf in the last three months of the previous year to 296,262 sf in the first three months of this year, according to a recent report on the region.

SAN DIEGO, CA-The San Diego County Office of Education awards Environmental Business Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Engineers, with a contract that will run through July 2005. According to the terms of the agreement, Environmental Business Services will provide its environmental consulting services at various school sites and administration facilities located throughout San Diego County.

RANCHO BERNARDO, CA-LOMCO Corp. lands the fixed-rate, 10-year loan through Freddie Mac, allowing the company to refinance its La Terraza Apartments property in Rancho Bernardo. The owner plans to hold the 402-unit multifamily asset as a long-term investment.
LA JOLLA, CA-ITLA Capital Corp. reports that its net income for the first quarter of 2003 jumped to $13 million from $4.7 million in the first quarter of 2002. Company officials say it is the highest level of quarterly profitability in the history of the 28-year-old firm.
ADELANTO, CA-An LP acquires the 96-unit complex, known as Mariposa Apartments. Built in 1986, the one-story property is currently 100% occupied.
ALPINE, CA-United Development Group snaps up the 33-unit apartment asset, which stands at 2616 Alpine Blvd. The new owner plans to convert the property into condominiums.
SAN DIEGO-The company, which specializes in printing and graphic design, inks a 10-year transaction for industrial space in Harbor Center. Power Printing Inc. will take 14,600 sf in the property, which stands at 2393 Newton Ave. in San Diego.
SAN DIEGO-In the latest sign of BRE Commercial/NAI's continuous growth in the San Diego region, the firm has added another member to its UTC office. Josh D. Vasbinder has left his post as broker associate at Grubb & Ellis Co. to join BRE's office properties group
