CHARLOTTE-The utility is being criticized for an updated version of its 1994 shoreline management plan. Critics charge that the program comes up short environmentally.
CHARLOTTE-Before Charlotte adds more parking lots and skyscrapers to its inventory, local developers and brothers Bonn and Michael Gilbert would like to build a paid-admission attraction on 25 acres owned by the school board and the city. Critics oppose a for-profit project on public land.
CHARLOTTE-The locally based developer plans to build a 65,000-sf flex buildng and a 120,000-sf warehouse on the last 25 acres available at Northpark. The estimated hard construction cost of both projects is $1 million.
CHARLOTTE-The number of hotel rooms in the Queen City is at a record 26,500 or 10% above the 1999 count, and growing larger. More than 4,500 new rooms are in the construction and permitting phase and another 1,200 rooms are on the drawing boards.
CHARLOTTE-Sonshine Construction Co. bought the dirt and an existing 36,000-sf building on Crown Point Road for $2.6 million or $866,666 per acre from Marketing Specialists of Dallas. Sonshine plans to build four additional structures totaling 24,000 sf.
CHARLOTTE-The project,off Westinghouse Boulevard, expects to break ground this quarter on the first of four 250,000-sf buildings with 30-foot ceilings and multiple docking bays. The so-far unnamed park is on 70 acres at NC 49 and General Drive.
HENDERSON, NC-The three-story, 67-room inn, built at an estimated construction cost of $10 million, is the Atlanta-based company's 14th location in North Carolina. The property is 160 miles northeast of Downtown Charlotte.
LINCOLNTON, NC-The Fort Myers, FL-based retailer's warehouse in Lincoln County Industrial Park on U.S. 321 will serve as the company's main facility for receiving, storing and shipping furniture to company stores and warehouses in Arizona, Florida and Texas. The site is 40 miles northwest of Downtown Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE-The Seattle coffee chain is taking the space at 101 Independence Center, a 20-story Cousins Properties-developed site directly across from the 60-story Bank of America Corporate Center. Brokers estimate the term is at least five years for an aggregate rent value of $150,000.
JOHNSON CITY, TN-Med Tech Properties Inc. has fully-leased and sold out the 6.7-acre, first-phase development of its 130-acre, $20 million Med Tech Regional Business Park, about 150 miles north of Downtown Charlotte. A total 83.5 acres are being sold at $80,000 per acre ($1.84 per sf) to $250,000 per acre ($5.74 per sf).
